I suppose, if you know me, the outfit featured in this post won’t surprise you. If you don’t know me, well here’s a great indicator of one of my favorite things. History. I was raised on history. One of the many benefits of being homeschooled was the ability to take regular field trips to places like Williamsburg and Mount Vernon and Monticello, where, along with my siblings, the history soaked into our skin. As much as I chase sunsets, well, I chase history even more.

Don’t be fooled. It was below freezing when these pictures were taken, I managed to keep my fingers from freezing off by where gloves between takes, somehow my arms only got a little bit chilly.
Have I mentioned that rocky coastlines are my favorite? It’s why Maine appealed to me as it did. There was a spot on Lake Erie that I’d go to growing up, there was a sandy piece, but my favorite was where the rocks covered the shores. I’d climb on them and wade into the water to get to that one rock where I could feel like a mermaid, watching the waves crash against the shore.
What people forget about clothes is that they all have a story of their own and each piece, carefully chosen, can reveal more than thousands of words. This dress pulls me into a world of fantasy where old stories, laced with truth, play, and start a line of love and creation.
So, I’m not going to apologize for wearing what society deems strange or out of place. I’ve settled before with my clothes and I’m never doing that again. There’s a peace that comes knowing that your outside matches a bit of your soul, it matches a piece of your core you long to share. If others like that piece then you know they like the real you, if they try to change you or convince you to wear more socially acceptable outfits, it’s probably best to part ways.
Also, when wearing something like this of course you need a dragon. I mean, come on.
