When I was younger, I craved rocky shores. A lake my family visited frequently had them lining the beach and surrounding the lighthouse. So, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that I fell quickly in love with Maine’s beaches when I moved here – before I moved here.
This lighthouse breaks the harbor from the sea and is appropriately called the Breakwater Lighthouse. I’ve spent many hours skipping around the rocks, rarely ever making it all the way down to the lighthouse itself. The uneven rocky path might be why I wised up and pulled out my combat boots, instead of the heels I tend to wear.
The boots I bought back in Prague, I browsed store after store until settling on these. Don’t settle. They busted somewhere between Prague and Strasbourg on my way home. Currently, I’m keeping them wearable with a mad combination of shoelaces and safety pins. Here’s to problem-solving.
